On 18 July 2025, the 2025 Mainland and Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR Intellectual Property Symposium, jointly organised by Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Intellectual Property Department (IPD) of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, and Economic and Technological Development Bureau (ETDB) of the Government of the Macao SAR, was successfully held in Shenzhen, China.
The symposium gathered over 120 representatives from IP authorities, academia, IP agencies, and business sectors from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao. Among the attendants was our firm China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd.(CPA), represented by our general office manager Ms. Andrew Wong, Shenzhen Office deputy director Mr. Xiao Risong, and litigator Mr. Bruce Tang.
The symposium was addressed by Mr. Lu Pengqi, deputy commissioner of the CNIPA; Mr. Wong Fuk-loi, director of IPD of Hong Kong SAR Government; Ms. Cheang Hio Man, deputy director of ETDB of Macao SAR Government; and Mr. Chan Yaodong, deputy secretary-general of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government.
CNIPA deputy commissioner Mr. Lu Pengqi in his speech emphasised that CNIPA will continue to give full support to Hong Kong and Macao SARs in their aligning with the national development strategies and advancing the implementation of cross-border intellectual property (IP) facilitation measures.
The conference focused on topical issues including coordinated development of IP in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and IP protection in the context of artificial intelligence development. Updates on the latest IP developments and trends in the mainland of China, Hong Kong and Macao were also provided by relevant IP officials.
